More Efficiency Always Implies the Use of the Proper Humidity Meter

Have you noticed how dry it is inside your home? If this is the case, you are not alone. In the winter, indoor relative humidity levels can be up to 10% higher than outdoor levels, according to the National Weather Service. This increased level of dryness can cause a variety of issues for homeowners. It may have already caused an increase in allergy symptoms or asthma attacks for some homeowners, and if left unchecked, it could lead to health issues such as respiratory infections.

The temperature and relative humidity are measured by all indoor humidity monitors (RH). They’re simple devices, but look for ones that deliver accuracy readings within +/- 3% RH, so you know you’re getting a dependable unit. Some more advanced models provide additional readings, such as dew point temperature and wet bulb temperature. The temperature at which air would have to be cooled to achieve 100% humidity is known as the dew point; a higher dew point indicates a stickier day. Wet bulb temperature is the lowest temperature that can be reached through evaporative cooling, and a high wet bulb temperature makes it difficult for your body to cool itself.
